Carly Rae Jepsen Named Billboard's 'Rising Star' of 2012

Carly Rae Jepsen has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" for 2012 following a year of dizzying success for the "Call Me Maybe" singer-songwriter. The Rising Star Award acknowledges Jepsen's breakout year and will be presented at the Billboard Women in Music event, presented by Nikon 1, on November 30 in New York City.

Korean pop star Psy had the bar raised high for his first song since "Gangnam Style" and, believe it or not, he's breaking records again. In the first 24 hours after its debut, his video for the new song "Gentleman" — which launched April 14 on YouTube — was watched 38 million times, according to new YouTube stats. Yeesh, that's a lot.

So did James Franco and the U.S. Olympic swim team. Models from Abercrombie & Fitch showed off their abs to it, as did hair-whipping Miami Dolphins cheerleaders. Dogs have barked the whole song. Parodies of it have been parodied.
